Free initial consultations are offered in the spirit of exploring fit and your goals for your therapeutic work. What is most important to me is to support you in landing with a provider that is the best fit for you. If you are questioning where to begin, a consult call is likely the best place to start! I am happy to provide you with referrals if it looks like we might not be a fit. Let’s talk!
Regarding insurance, please note that I am an out of network provider; however, I am happy to provide you with a superbill if you would like to utilize your out of network benefits. For more information on this process, see below.
Psychotherapy sessions
All sessions are 45-50 minutes in length (unless scheduled for an extended 80 minute session) and must begin within 15 minutes of the appointment start time.
Late Cancel and No Show Fees
Please cancel/reschedule all appointments at least 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled session to avoid the cancelation/no show fee. Clients will be responsible for the full fee of session if canceling or rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice ($200 for 50 minute sessions and $320 for 80 minute sessions). Sessions may be canceled via email, phone or text.
Payment
All clients are required to have a credit, debit or HSA card on file. Payment is expected at the time of service and if not received within 30 days, the therapist reserves the right to terminate therapy. Please note I am an out of network provider and do not take insurance outright. See the bottom of this page for information about private pay therapy.

Private Pay Therapy
As an out of network provider, I do not accept insurance outright, however, I am able to provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company to utilize out of network benefits, should they be part of your policy. You may also utilize HSA/FSA to pay for your sessions. Please make it clear upon scheduling sessions that you plan to use out of network benefits, as superbills with diagnostic codes will need to be provided to you.
Why Private Pay?
As an out of network provider, I am able to provide a highly individualized approach to your care. This means your sessions are tailored to your unique needs and as your therapist, I can keep the focus completely on you, rather than the often highly restrictive parameters of what insurance allows for in-network providers.
Utilizing Out of Network Benefits
Many of my clients are able to file and receive significant reimbursement for individual therapy utilizing their out of network benefits. Often times, 40%-50% or more of the cost of session is covered after meeting their out of network deductible. These benefits vary greatly by insurance plan and should be verified by your insurance provider. Many therapists are out of network providers making it worth exploring those benefits to ensure the best provider fit for you.
To verify out of network benefits, call the number on the back of your insurance card. If there is a specific number for behavioral health or “BH” call that number instead.
Questions to ask:
Do I have out of network coverage for behavioral health? (This will provide the answer as to if out of network therapy sessions are covered by your insurance.)
If the answer is “Yes, I do have out of network benefits for behavioral health,” ask:
What deductible do I need to meet before I will be reimbursed utilizing these benefits? (This will tell you how much you can expect to pay out of pocket prior to insurance reimbursing you for a percentage of the session costs.)
What percentage of the cost per session will be covered after my deductible is met? (This will tell you approximately how much you might expect to be reimbursed directly from your insurance provider.)
Other important information about utilizing out of network benefits:
Deductibles typically reset on an annual basis, so clarify this with your insurance provider as this means you will need to meet your deductible likely each year prior to insurance reimbursement for that year.
Fees for therapy sessions are charged at the time of services, even if you are using out of network benefits, as insurance reimbursement for cost of services should go directly to you, the client, after you file with your insurance provider. Anecdote Therapy, PLLC does not accept payment directly from insurance providers.
Check with your insurance company about their unique reimbursement process to submit an out of network claim.
